Prescriber
A prescription from a treating physician or regional institution is required for initial provision or if the medical indication changes.
During the intake, the insured person's question is identified and described in a function-oriented manner as described in the process description for aids care.
No prior consent (authorization) from the insurer is required for the provision of visual communication aids if the indication meets the legally established guidelines and the patient is proficient in Braille.
Procedure
After reviewing your application, delivery will be made immediately if it is in order. If there is any doubt about the application, Worldwide Vision will still request approval from your health insurer.
User term

Warranty
2 years
Deductible
Reimbursement from your basic health insurance policy is subject to your deductible. If you've opted for a voluntary deductible, your health insurer will first offset the costs against your mandatory deductible and then against your voluntary deductible. Once you've met your deductible, this care will be covered by your insurance up to the maximum amount for which you are insured. The deductible applies to insured individuals aged 18 and over.
Replacement
In the event of replacement (in principle no sooner than 5 years), no new medical indication is required if it is already included in the Worldwide Vision insured file or if an approval statement is known to the health insurer.
It must be clearly stated in the Insured Person's file why a replacement is necessary.
Problems/complaints can be reported directly to Worldwide Vision on telephone number 013 528 56 66. Available on working days from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Daisy player / Webbox
Products
Daisy player and Orion Webbox
Prescriber
The indication must be established by the treating physician, speech therapist, optometrist, orthoptist, healthcare professional from an institution specialized in the rehabilitation of the blind and partially sighted, or healthcare professional from a multidisciplinary institute specialized in the treatment of dyslexia.
Medical indications:
The indication to be eligible for a Daisy player, Daisy software or an Orion Webbox exists if:
- a visual impairment;
- dyslexia where treatment of the dyslexia has not been successful;
- a motor disability that prevents the insured from handling a book or magazine.
- The insured is visually impaired and unable to read a book or magazine with a simple optical aid
like reading glasses.
- The insured is motorically disabled and unable to handle a book or magazine.
- The insured is dyslexic and is treated by a multidisciplinary team, but this treatment is not successful
proven. A generally known dyslexia statement is therefore not sufficient.
You must have a medical indication (prescription) from your treating physician. The treating physician must also indicate on the prescription any restrictions and the desired provision. The following guidelines apply:
- You must clearly describe your visual impairment. This must be done by providing a detailed description of the visual impairment and, if applicable, your residual vision. A residual vision of 0.4 or less is acceptable.
- In case of motor limitations, it must be clearly indicated what the functional problems are with regard to hand and arm function.
Details
Insured individuals with visual impairments (e.g., hemianopia, visual field restriction) are not automatically eligible for reimbursement for a Daisy player/software. These applications will be assessed by the health insurer's paramedical advisor and must therefore be submitted to the health insurer, as are applications for individuals with motor disabilities and dyslexia.
In case of dyslexia, a statement from a clinical psychologist or educational psychologist must be submitted with the application, containing at least the following information:
1. Dyslexia is present, possibly with additional information about the degree of impairment (technical and reading comprehension, spelling, strategic writing, structuring, languages, information processing, etc.)
2. The child has been treated in healthcare (i.e. outside of education), in accordance with the treatment guidelines of the CVZ report "Is dyslexia covered by healthcare?"
3. Treatment has been discontinued or has been unsuccessful; no further progress is expected (declaration of completion of treatment). 4. The Daisy player is recommended as a useful and effective aid and is intended for home use.
In cases where it is clear that the Daisy player is primarily requested for educational purposes – and not primarily for another purpose, such as reading books at home that fit the insured's interests – the application must be rejected on the grounds that the provision of a Daisy player as a learning tool falls within the domain of the REA Act.
